Grading Assignments in Edmodo
As we practice with each feature, it would be highly suggested that you have your Edmodo account opened and are performing the features along with the tutorials. Let’s begin!
GRADING AN ASSIGNMENT (TEACHER)
GRADING AN ASSIGNMENT (TEACHER)
- So your students have turned in an assignment that you posted and it now needs to be graded.
- You will have a notification to tell you when you have an assignment in need of grading on the top right hand part of your screen.
When you click on the notifications, then click the “turned in” button located on the assignment post to view a list of all work that needs grading. It will bring you to a page of the students who have turned in their work. Click on the students name to review the assignment that was turned in.
There are three different ways to grade an assignment:
- Numerical Grade: After reading the assignment, type the numerical grade in the boxes in the right hand corner of the screen and then press grade.
- Submission Reaction- This shows the student how you felt about the assignment. To put in a reaction you just click on the face icon that describes the grade the closest.
- Provide Feedback/Comment- You may attach a file or just submit a note of feedback for the student to see.
USING ANNOTATION TO GRADE AN ASSIGNMENT
If you would like to make feedback on the actual assignment, you have the option to “Annotate” a document and this is an option rather than writing lengthy comments to the student. In order to do this please complete the following steps:

If you would like to make feedback on the actual assignment, you have the option to “Annotate” a document and this is an option rather than writing lengthy comments to the student. In order to do this please complete the following steps:
- Go to the assignment that was turned in the same way you would grade a regular assignment. You would then select the “Annotate” option below the Assignment title.
- Note: If you do not see the annotate option below the Assignment, this could mean your document is not compatible. Reasons for incompatibility include file size too large (must be under 2 mb), file type or file name (refrain from using spaces in a document title, instead use an underscore).
- The assignment will open automatically and your annotation options will be across the top of the page
- You may make any remarks or edits necessary, leave comments, draw on the assignment, highlight items and use the strikeout tool.
- After all edits have been made, close out the browser tab and all annotations you made to the assignment. It will be automatically saved.
- You may then enter the grade for that assignment.
